Two humans shared their hearts.
Both were broken, feeling nothing, yet marked by scars.
They found each other — in the dark.
And were reminded of what they’d forgotten — the feeling of being loved.
Building bridges from heart to heart — so very fast.
Yet what they ignored, despite trying so hard — was that both were scarred by the past.
One heart — had never known the feeling it felt before,
Only darkness and pain had it known therefore.
Questions and panic about the possible loss of what was luckily found
Were spinning in its head — around and around.
Pushing these thoughts aside one day — thanks to the other heart,
From which it never needed to hide a single part.
The second heart — already knew the feeling of being hurt and lost,
Carrying around the ruins of bridges of love already destroyed.
Haunted by the fear of losing the greatest gift of its life —
It tried to do everything right.
It had never felt this way before, even though it had found other hearts —
But none of them had ever made it beat so high and fast.
But even when they pushed their negative thoughts aside,
They knew — the time would come to say goodbye.
At the beginning, unwilling to notice and ignoring where all these things could lead —
They enjoyed each day, each passing week.
Spending time together as much as they wanted and needed —
Hoping for a good ending, a bright future towards which they would be led.
Both loving each other as never before —
Sharing the most honest talks they could have about their feelings, their lives, and where to go.
Feeling safe and good, falling more and more in love, but also asleep.
After some time, one of them woke up, as the other heart no longer beat the same way
It always had.
All the thoughts that had been pushed aside
Came rushing back — and this time, its feelings could no longer hide.
Shocked and saddened by the fact
That the other human’s heart no longer beat for it — it begged.
Begged it to stay and try again, not to lose what they once had.
It was the most beautiful gift of its life.
There was so much sadness that it couldn’t hide.
All it could do was cry.
Cry for hours, cry for days.
But the other human took its heart and carried it away.
The first human, crying, asked the other where to go and what to do.
The second didn’t know.
All it could do was say goodbye,
Let it go, and let another bridge of love be destroyed — built upon lies.
Let it go with half its heart in its hands, the other half ripped from its body
And lying on the ground — right before its face.
Feeling empty, feeling sad ever since those days.
Feeling like a puppet, still connected — by invisible strings.
It knew this would be their end.
That there was nothing and no one left to free it from its pain.
And the darkness began to grow again.
It lost itself through the loss of its love.
Having had enough of feelings for others and the sadness they brought.
It had been living in its darkness ever since.
In darkness rising from deep within its heart.
A battered heart, beating like a screaming drum.
A heart filled with hardness, unable to free itself through catharsis.
Without the chance to find someone else for a new start.
Living alone in its darkness for a while,
It wrote this poem — perhaps to make you cry.
To share its thoughts and feelings from the past few years.
To show you not to be consumed by your fears.
To say goodbye to all the negativity and push every dark thought out of its mind.
Hoping this would heal the wounds buried deep inside.
Or perhaps not to heal — but simply to feel a little better.
